Hollywood Rockstar (New Poem) 12/18/13

Alone in our silent corners of life.
Years pass by and by.
The Hollywood rock star dreams of youth is now replaced by the 9 to 5 day job.
No wild late night parties, just bedtime stories with the kids.
Yet sometimes we drift away in sweet bliss with the help of pleasant memories
and great music from our past and yes, maybe a little bit of alcohol.
But in the end it always comes back to the music.
It's the only thing that matters.
Just the music....just the music.

Black Russians (New Poem) 12/5/13

Bowman's Vodka.
Kahlua Liqueur.
Not quite late at night but it is dark.
(A little bit past eight o' clock).
A few sips here and there.
A few more sips here and there.
Volume turned up listening to Alice Cooper.
Sitting here in blue jeans and a grey Virginia is for Lover's t-shirt.
Alice Cooper Rocks!
Glass is empty....need more to drink.
Should be working on my novel but it can wait.
(Wait!!  No, it can't).
Glass is still empty.
....pours more Vodka and Kahlua into glass.

Someday I'll....

finish writing that damn novel.  Once I actually start writing it. (Actually I have started it, but I just need to keep on writing). This time, I believe that I'm more focused and hopefully will have it completed within six months, as long as I don't get sidetracked.

Halloween....the weeks before (New Poem) 10/8/13

Pumpkin spiced beer, pumpkin rolls, and more pumpkin treats.
An all night T.V. show Halloween themed marathon featuring "Roseanne",
"The Simpsons", "Charlie Brown", "Garfield", "Scooby Doo", and all the rest.
Kids dressing up in their favorite Halloween costumes weeks before Oct. 31st.
Candy filled dreams and mid-night screams.
Halloween is here once again so it seems.

Yeah, I know it got kind of corny at the end but....Hey, deal with it.

Juice Box (New Poem) 9/4/13

No matter how hard you try it's almost
impossible to look cool while drinking a
juice box if you're in your mid-thirties.

(Trust me, I've tried).

Grandma's Tattoo (New Poem) 9/3/13

It's no big deal really.
A lot of people have tattoos.
Yet for some reason it occurred to me that when we're older
and our kid's are all grown up and they have kids' of their own
I can imagine one day sitting outside in the front yard just relaxing.
Then one of our grandchildren will say something like this:
"Mom, can I get a tattoo, just like Grandma?"

Star Trek (Mini-Blog Essay) 6/25/13

Science Fiction Rules!  In fact, "The Empire Strikes Back" was one of the first movies I remember seeing in the theater when I was a kid.  So I've been a loyal "Star Wars" fan since I was five years old.  I started collecting comic books in 2005 when I was about 29 years old.  It all started with a "Star Wars" comic.  I even wrote a poem about it in the book "Poems That Might Or Might Not Change Your Life".  My current comic book subscription pull list looks like this: (DC Comics) The Flash, Batman, Aquaman, The Justice League of America, Swamp Thing.  (Marvel Comics) The Superior Spider-man, Daredevil.  In 2011 thanks to I started watching the British television show "Doctor Who".  I even wrote a blog post about it.  You can check it out here.  As you can see I am the classic all around geek.  Uses "The Force" when opening automatic doors....check.  Likes Aquaman and not afraid to admit it.....check.  Owns a replica of the 9th and 10th Doctor's sonic screwdriver....check.  So now on to "Star Trek".  I remember watching "The Wrath of Khan" on television when I was younger.  Those creatures that crawled into your ears creeped me out, wait they still do.  Although my knowledge of "Star Trek" is limited I'm beginning to get into it a little bit more.  I've seen other "Star Trek" movies such as "The Search for Spock", "The Voyage Home", "Nemesis", and the 2009 "Star Trek".  I really enjoyed all of them.  I can't wait to see "Star Trek: Into Darkness".  If it's still showing at the theater I would like to watch it on the big screen, but if not I'll just wait until it comes out on DVD.  Once again thanks to Netflix I've started watching the original "Star Trek" 1960's television series.  It's really good.  So I guess you can say my journey into geekdom is now complete...."Star Wars", "Comic Books", "Doctor Who", and now "Star Trek".  Live Long and Prosper (Vulcan Salute).

I Love Spotify (New Poem) 4/19/13

Drinking two beers.
Listening to great music on Spotify once again.
So many great bands. I love Spotify.
So many great old and new and different bands
to discover.  It makes me so happy I just want to
forget about everything.  It makes me so happy I
just want to turn up the volume and swim in an
ocean of endless music and dance and sing
out loud and all kinds of shit.

Corky (New Poem) 4/18/13

The silence is hauntingly silent.
The moment is broken.
The clinking of wine glasses.
The soft sound of the cork being
pulled out of the wine bottle ....POP.

A Simple Poem About Stuff...Man (New Poem) 4/11/13

Speaking of things that matter and
also of things that don't matter.
(I take that back....speaking of things that only matter).
Drinking three beers from Lexington, Virginia.
Vienna Lager from Devil's Backbone Brewing Company.
(Wait make that four beers).
Listening to David Bowie on Spotify
and other cool artists.
(Such as the Grateful Dead).
One more sip of beer then it's off to bed.
(And sleep tight).

Krishna Poem (New Poem) 3/19/13

My name is Charlie Clouse.
But that is not important right now.
I am known as a poet, a writer, an author, etc., etc.
But again that is not important right now.
Forgetting the self.  Finding the true identity.
I am not this body, I am not this mind.
Try to remember, try to remember, (the soul).
Need to remember this in the end.
Just spirit soul, just spirit soul.
Remember to rise above and chant the names of God.
Hare Krishna, Hare Rama.
Have no fear, have no doubt.
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna.
Sing out, sing out.

A slice of lime (A green citrus fruit).
Three ice cubes (Frozen water).
The Stanley Brothers (Bluegrass) music playing.
A few shots of Moonshine (The Original Moonshine)
inside a glass.  Wearing a Doctor Who shirt
(A British TV Show) and jeans.
Early January 25 degrees outside (Cold).
Still need to eat dinner.
What to get....what to get....(Food).

Food (Mini-Blog Essay) 1/21/13

Fruit smoothies are freaking awesome!  I try to have one in the morning when I have the time.  I feel so much better through out the day when I drink one.  This year I plan to eat better and exercise more.  Drink more water and eat vegan when possible if not then I'll try to eat a healthier vegetarian diet.  Food can either help us or hurt us.  Isn't that just wild once you think about it.  We have so many choices now a days.  A candy bar or a banana, carrots or cookies, a soft drink or maybe some fruit juice. Then there is where and how the food is produced.  Once again we have so many choices.  For example mass produced factory farm animals, growth hormones, antibiotics, etc.  Or maybe local, organic, grass fed, cage free, no growth hormones, etc.  Vegetarian or non vegetarian.  Even where we shop can make a difference in our food choices.  Such as Walmart or the Farmer's Market. Fast food or the local food co-op grocery store down the street, or maybe you even grow your own food in a backyard garden.  The one thing that we all can agree on is that food is amazing!  It can bring people closer together in so many different ways and that is always a good thing.  Three cheers for food.  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna, Krishna, Hare, Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama, Rama, Hare, Hare.  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!

The New Year (New Poem) 1/4/13

So sick of making New Year's resolutions yet we make them anyway.  Most are made in good faith but hardly any are ever kept.  So why do we even try?  Because we are creatures of habit and it is up to us to decide which habits we choose to do....the good ones or the bad ones.  It's really quite simple yet somehow we always make it so damn complicated.
